Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra design shown off by new renders

Information about Samsung's upcoming flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, showed up in bits and pieces. First, it was confirmed to pack a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy SoC and an 11,200 mAh battery with 45 Watt fast charging. A subsequent report confirmed it would reuse its predecessor's 14.6-inch WQXGA+ (2,960 x 1,848) 120 Hz Super AMOLED screen. Now, renowned leaker OnLeaks (via MySmartPrice) has shown off new renders of the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

Design-wise, the tablet seems largely unchanged, complete with a notched display that houses its two front-facing camera sensors. Like many modern-day tablets, they are aligned horizontally, intended for use in landscape mode. There's a cylindrical cutout at the back for the S-Pen, right below the LED flash module and two vertically-aligned camera sensors. This time, the camera modules seem slightly larger and separate from the S-Pen silo.

The power and volume rockers' position remains unchanged on the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, as does that of the pogo-pin connector for external keyboards, both of which lie on opposite ends. Unfortunately, thick bezels are here to stay, as they are quite prominent on all four edges. Lastly, two bottom-firing speakers are on either side of the USB-C port. As expected, a 3.5 mm audio jack is nowhere to be found.

Other Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra specs include up to 16 GB of RAM and potentially up to 1 TB of internal storage. Users can expand it further if Samsung includes an SD card slot. It measures 208.6 mm x 326.4 mm x 5.5 mm (8.21 in x 12.85 in x 0.22 in) and weighs 737 grams (1.62 lbs). IP67 water and dust protection are also included.

Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra with its lower-specced siblings (and the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, depending on who you ask) on July 26 at its Galaxy Unpacked event. Combined with an external keyboard and improvements in Samsung's DeX model, it could make for a decent laptop replacement with its powerful SoC. Besides, if the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra's price is anything to go by, it will probably cost as much as a mid-range laptop.
